ABOUT LUKE STROSNIDER

Through his books, photography, and camera obscura installations, Luke continually seeks to understand and photography’s strange relationship to both individual and collective perceptual experience.

His interaction with images began with family snapshots and video recordings; Luke later attended George Washington University, focusing on History and American Studies. Later still he attended the Photographic Center Northwest, earning a certificate in Fine Art Photography. From there it was on to the Visual Studies Workshop, where he completed his Master of Fine Arts degree in late 2007.

Luke's artwork has been widely exhibited, and can be found in the collections of the University of the Arts, the Cleveland Institute of Art, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University, among others. His arts writing can be seen in Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism, the City newspaper (Rochester, New York), and at his blog Touching Harms the Art.
